Childbirth Under Hypnosis Was Success

A woman who gave birth to twins un der h^*pnosis said all she could remem her was feeling drowsiness with a sen sation of heing far awav — as if shi were floating in space. Dr. George Xewbold said this in an artiele on painless childbirths by hvp nosis in the British Medical Journal Dr. Xewbold said that in the earl stages therapeutic suggestions were attempted. ''After about tifteen minut>> the patient .hegan to respond and be came quieter and relaxed. " Dr. Xewbold said a few minutes later she was sleeping. The suggestion ot "no pain" was continned for ten minutes and she remaiued asim-p for some hours. When she was examined on awakening she said she felt refreshed The childbirth proeeeded normally and satisfactorily. Dr. Xewbold said that in another ca-u a mother under light hypnosis wa able to co-operate during the birtli ui a ten pound baliv.
