The Opnosition had sought the adjournment of the House to discuss a letter reported to he missiug from a file on the Victorian ueonle's car project which had heen tahled in the Farb' imen-n rv Tii"br"vrr. The Ctovemmeot's position wculd Jia.ve heen perilous had it not heen for the ahsence of three Oountry Party memhers, including Mcvsrs. II. J. Hyland and M. Benrxett. vho have ahsented themselves 011 swwl occamons when vital votos woro takou and who have heen cailed "unoliicial Government supnnrters". The Government averted defeat hy 28 votes to 25. Mr Hollwav then produced the missing d/mument and claimed that the Opposition had confused the flies.
