Ihakara Women's Institute Holds Meeting
The usual monthly meeting of the Ihakara Institute was held recently, Mrs. Turner, the president, extend- ; ing a warm welcome to visitors and j members. ! Apologies were received from Mesdames Armstrong, Collett, Hibbell and Trotter. Mrs. McLean read an interesting comprehensive aocount of the recent council meetjng. Mr. M. A. Nixon was the * guest speaker for the afternoon, the subject of his talk being adult education. The points prize for tlie year in the vegetable competitipn was won by Mrs. A. Hudson, with Mrs. Turner as runner-up. The following are the results of the competitions held each month: Flowers: Mesdames Doyle 1, Has- , lock 2, R. J. Rolston 3. Shrub : Mesdames Brooks -1, Doyle 2, J. H. Rolston 3. ' Vegetable: Mesdames A. Hudson 1, Maclean 2, R. J. Rolston 3. Handwork: Mesdames Brooks 1, [ R. J. Rolston 2, M. Taylor 3. 3 . Mrs. Atkins and Mrs. Humphrey 1 were each successful in the social \ eompetition. 3 A delicious afternoon tea was 1 dispensed bv the hqstesses for the month. fc The meeting concluded with the 7 singing of the National Anthem.
