Personal. The friends of Mrs. H. Curran will regret to learn that- she has had to enter the Palmerston North Hospital to undergo an operation. Two * f ormer residents of Shannon, Mr. and Mrs. Sam Anderson, passed through the town last Friday on their way home after visiting their daughter and son-inlaw in the South Island. Public Farewell Arrauged. A public farewell is to be extended to Mr. and Mrs. T. Sunley in the Druids' Hall on Thursday, May 26. Mr. Sunley, who was in charge of the local hydro-electrie sub-station for many years, left Shannon some months ago, but owing to the queen carnival and other functions being held a suitable date could not be arranged. A public meeting to make final arrangements is to be held in the Couneil Chambers tomorrow evening. A History Of Shannon. The jubilee souvenir which is being prepared by the booklet committee in connection with the forthcoming diamond jubilee celebrations of the school, will be as near a complete history, of Shannon and district as is possible. Many hours of research work, checkipg pld records and .writing the articles have been done by the three members of the committee. The booklet will be on sale to the public towards the latter part of this month.
