Prison Escapee Walks Into Arms Of Detective
AUCKLAND, May 16. A prisoner who jumped from the Wel-Iington-Atickland express near Horotiu
on Apni 13, whne being escorted frotrWellington to Auckland prison, pleadeb guiltv in the Police Court to a eharg of escaping from lawful custody. He was Wilfred Edward Hall, alias Johr Lund Farmer, aged 3.8. Tliomas MeKeown, warder, said tb' prisoner had escaped as the train waslowing down. He ran to the head of the train and escaped over a fenee. Detective Mathieson said he recog nised accused as he was coming out oi an hotel, and arrested him. Prisoner was^committed to the Supreme Court for sentence.
