Licensing Commission Seeks A Home
WELLINGTON, May 15. Although the recently appointed Licensing Control Commission does not assume its responsibilities until June 1, iiegotiations are already^in train for it to function as from that date. The chairman of the commission, Mr. A. M. Goulding, S.M., in reply to an inquiry this evening, said that the questions ot staff and accominodation for the commission and its employees, were at present under consideration. Accommodation was one of the commission 's problems. The headquarters of the commission will be in Wellington and it is expected that the commission will begin with a small staff sufficient to meet its initial requirements and that after it has settled down to work, it will have a better idea of organisation and the aetual staff it needs to enable the commission to exercise the wide powers of control over the licensing trade conferred on it by the Licensing Amendment Act.passed by Parliament last year.
