Person^l i Mr. and Mrs. G. Robertson, ■ of Pahiatua, are visiting Otaki and are the guests of Mr. ■ and Mrs. R. Mather, Iti Street. Card Evenings Continued. Successful card evenings continue to be staged by local organisations. Two such evenings held recently have been on behalf of the Tuis marching team and the Otaki Band. Prize-winners at the first were Mes'dames W. Houghtori and J. Poutama and Messrs W. Nicholls and J. Mudge. The band evening saw Mesdames L. G. Gimblett, L. Housiaux and G. Robertson and Mr. E. W. Smith successful. A competition prize at the latter evening was also annexed by Mr. Smith.

New Post Office Soon. Indications are that the proposed new post office for Otaki should soon be a reality, as a site for temporary premises has heen obtained. The postmaster, Mr. C. G. Anderson, in ca communication to the Otaki Borough Council .at its meeting on Wednesday night, advised that Mini'sterial approval had been given to the leasing of premises inAotaki Street for a period of three years. The departihent had aiso agreed to take over from the council the lease of a small area at the' rear of the premises. Drive On, Cyclists. An ail-out eifort to make cyclists equip their machines with lamps had been made, said Trafflc Inspector C. L. Davis in a report to Wednesday night's meeting of the Otaki Borough CounciL Ten summonses had been served and a numbex of warnings issued. The inspector advised that nine drivers had been tested for licences, four of them failing'. He had received the promise of the property owner that the hedge at the .corner of Waerenga Road and the main nighway would be cut to a height of two feet.
