. t . WELLINGTON, May 11. ^ The issues whieh the electors of New Zealand had to determine at the General Eleetion this year, were' analysed by the. Leader of the Opposition, Mr. Holland, in a two-hour speech to an enthusiastic audienee in the Wellington Town Hall tonight. . The year 1949, he said, was the year of New Zealand 's emancipation. Mr. Holland .said the return of the National Party would mean no more soeialisation, more private enterprise, more -competition, more goods, infinitely more freedom and lower living costs. To return Labour meant more soeialisation of industry, more controls, more restrictions, more shortages and higher living costs. Mr. Holland summed up the National Party 's plans as follows : — To help the Empire to recover its strength and power. ' To increase production to fight the eurse of inflation. To reduee living costs. To reduce controls and restrictions. To take firm and resolute action against Gommunjsts. To bring-about harmony in industry and destroy cla'ss feeling. To encourage and reward people whn would work. To prepare the Dominion's defences as far as resources pfermit.
