Manawatu Catchment Board Classification
At last night's meeting of the Otaki Borough Council the recen't classification of the Otaki district by the Manawatu Catchment Board was aga-in reviewed and the effect of th pending revaluation of the borough lands was fully discussed. The clerk of the board stated in the correspondence that the classification was based on the degree of benefit. received from the river protection work, and a revaluation of the borough would not alter the classification. The Mgyor, Mr. C. F. Atmore, pointed out, however, that a substantial increase i'n the value of the borough lands would result in a substantial increase in the rates levied on borough lands, as against land outside the borough which has not been revalued and increased in the same pronordon. It was stressed that the last day for filing objections was Tuesday, May 17, and that a"l ra.epayers would be well advised to 'consi'der their own bosition in the-matter.
