Advice fi'om the Automobile Ass:- ; ciation (Manawatu) last night indicated that the New Plymouth-Te Kuiti highway was in a bad state south of Piopio but at the moment was the oniv available route to Auckland. The Desert Road and the highway between National Park and Taupo were botir closed as a result of heavy falls of "snow. Other bighways closed are the Taupo to Rotorua, Napier to Wairoa, Wairoa to Gisborne, Wairoa to Waikaremoana, Taumarunui to Te Kuiti, Taihape to Napier and the Napier to Taupo.
