The bird, a young grey duck, banded near Pa'merscon North on March 7 ' last, was shot on the Waitaki River. on the opening day of the game season in .Ihe South Isiand. Mr. Parry, Minister of Internal ■ Affairs, in •discussing this long flight today, mentioned that it is the longesl duck flight recorded in this country and was all the more interesling as.it had occurred before the opening of the 'North Isiand game peason.
