PHOTOS PUBLISHED IN PARIS HAVE REPERCUSSIONS

Received Tuesday, 10.15 a.m. PARIS, May 9. Published photographs of Princess Margaret on Capri are still having repercussions in Paris. The Paris po-ice yesterday seized copies of the Prench paper France d'lmanche because it contained a picture of Princess Margaret in bathing eostume on the Isle of Capri. says Reuter s Paris correspondent. Inspector Finault, of the Paris .erefecture, ordered the seizures because the nlctures "would have angered the King of a great and friendly country." The French Foreign Office said today that it had initiated the police action which had led to the seizure of copies of the newspaper "at the request of the British Embassy."

Embassy officials denied having made any request. "It was a rbutine action of French judiclal procedure," said an Embassy spokesman, The editors of France d'lmanche caused further confusion by denying that they ' had printed any photos of the Princess. They said it was a member of the Princess's entourage. Most Paris papers have published photographs showing the Princess tripping down to the beach to bathe with a shirt-taiied escort at Capri. The newspaper La Matin, which said the picture had been taken by m irresponsible photographer, added that it would cause a scandal in England, not because the picture showed "the splendid figure of the young Princess," but because her escort — Mr. T. C. Harvey, the Queen's private secretary — was wearing a hat while leading the Princess. This, said Le Matin, was '"a little off hand." Parisians have been asked not to gather in crowds and stare at the Princess when she visits Paris at the end of the month. The newspaper Paris Presse said: "The best way to let the Princess appreciale the true face of Paris will be not to bother her by staring curiously and to spare her the as;saults of journalists and photographers, which so spoiled her stay ,in Capri and Rome."
