Motor-cycle Club Stages Field Day

The first field day of the newlyformed Horowhenua Motor Cycle C'ub was held last week under ideal conditions, and was very successful, the attendance numbering over 40. An accelera'.ion test over a distance of 75 yards was won by A. Clifton (Levin) in 5. 4/5 sces. This event was keemy contested and some excellent times were recorded. .A flag race went to P. D'Ath (Otaki) , who gave a skilful exhibition. In ihe main novelty event.' the potato race, J. Ferguson (Levin), proved to be the most expert notato dropper of the day. The final event was a slow race, C. Barton (Levin), being last home and winning his event from g large field of enthusiastic "slow" riders. With the excention of the acceleration test, all even's were run in heats of four or five contestants. Mr. 'N. Walker, nresident of the club, assisted by Mr. B. Perkins, a commit'tee member, carried out the duties of timekeepers. Mrl R. Gallager, of Levin, was the official starter for all events. During) the afternoon tea and biscuits were served to all and were much appreciated. The thanks of the club were extended to -Messrs. Taylor Bros. for the use of their property, which proved to he an excellent site.
