Court Sequel To Collision Near Otaki

An accident on the main road just north of Otaki had a sequel in the Magistrate's Court, Levin, yesterday when the magistrate, Mr. A, M. Goulding, S.M., fined John GeRald Guthrie/£2 10s. Costs were T2& Guthrie was charged with failing to keen to the left. Sergeant W. Grainger told the court that. defendant had. been driving his employer's car from Levin to Otaki and the accident had occurred -while he was rounding a bend just north of a concrete bridge near Otaki. He had taken this at a speed of from 30 to 35 m.p.h., and. ha.d. apparently swung over the whit-e line. A car had rounded the corner from the oppositq direction and the two vehicles had collided-, Both had been extensively damaged. and a woman passenger in the north-bound car had been hurt. Faulfy Truck Lights. Robert "Ghesney Cullen pleaded guilty by, telegram to a charge of not having* his vehicle properly ljghted. For Inspector. W. Boys, Traffic Inspector, C. J. Robinson told the cqur.t that at 8 p.m. on March 5 defendant. had been driving his truck along Oxford Street. The left-hand head'light and the tail light were without bulbs. The right-hand head light ha.d been burning. Cullen had sa'ld. that he had been at Waitarere Beach for some time and had thougbt that his lights were alright. The magistrate convicted and fined Cullen 3Qs. Costs were 10s.-
