Burglars Must Pay the Penalty

AUCKLAND, May 5. "Por burglars in Auckland there. is no probation and it is just waste of time for counsel to ask for it in these cases," said Mr. Justice Finlay in the Supreme Court when sentencing prisoners. His Honour said that in all cases the Court was presented with two problems. One was whether sentence should be ad justed to the intereists of the prisoner ahd the other was ^ whether the sentence should be adjusted to the interests of society and crime punished. "In cases of hreaking and entering the Court has come to the conclusion that the wrongdoer must pay1 the penaity and the crime must be punished," he added.
