* ' . WELLINGTON, May 6. Winter racing is now in full swing and it should riot be long before the big steepleehasers will be seen to advantage over the cross-country. Egmont will provide the main steeple- , chase event tomorrow, although the class is -not of the highest. Duality was going well when he misjudged the last fence in the Waverley Steeplechase. At the time of the mishap he prOmise'd to take part in the finish. With Gaiety absent Duality looks a good prospect tomorrow. — His most dangerous opponents appear to be Gay Rouen and Old Joe. The Foley Memorial Handicap at Avondale should enable Lord Revel to regain the winning list. Judged by his track work he seems to be handling the soft track much better: The Avondale Hack Steeplechase has drawn a splendid field, and if Murphy is well forward he should give a good account' of himself. '
Form shown at the recent Manawatu, Hawera and Forbury Park meetings should provide a good gui'de to the single day meeting of the Wellington Trotting Club's winter fixture at Hutt Park tomorrow. The fields are of handy size and if the horses run to recent form the public should experiencea good innings at the meeoing. ; Fofiowing , are the prospects for Woodville,'. Egmont, Avondale, Ashburton gallops and Hutt Park Trots: —
