AUCKLAND, Alay 5. Officers of the new Auckland Carpenters, Joiners' and Joiners' AlachiniBts' Society, still await the result of their request for registration as a union. The Alinister of Labour, Mr. McLagan, said three weelcs ago that the new organisation would be registered under the InJustrial Conciliation and Arbitration Act subject to verification of its membership lists and to its rules bfeing ap proved by the Registrar of Unions. Since then more than 950 names of members have been cheeked by the Department of Labour and sent to the registrar. The view is held in some quarters that the pending conference of the Federation of Labour is causing delay tc
recognition of the new orgamsation. The conference opens in Wellington on Alay 1 7 and the carpenters ' dispute will be keenly discussed. The -executive of the Auckland Trades Council will tneet tomorrow and one of the subjects for discussion will be the trend of the carpenters' dispute. Efforts are still being made by members of the deregistercd section of the Carpenters' Union to persuadc workers to leave the jobs to which they have returned.
