Cricket Performance. Speaking at the victory dinner oi the Shannon Cricket Club on Saturday evening, Mr. J. P. McNeile, captain of the club, mq,de- mentiohof the outstanding bowling by. two members of the team during the season just passed. H. Moore had secured 108 wickets and B. Harris 100 wickets in the Horowhenua competition. Mr. McNeile' thought that this might be a record for the district, if not for New Zealand. Badminton Opening. ^ The official pperiing of -the Shannon Badminton Club's 1949 season* was held in the Druids' Hall last evening, when there was a good a ;- tendance of local players, including several new members. There were few visitors. The president, Mr. C. D. G-yde, ofiicially opened the season and extended a welcome to the visitors and new players. The ladies of the club provided an enjoyable supper.
