NEW PLYMOUTH, May 2. Work will be resumed at the Tatu, Waitawhena and Benneydale State collieries tomorrow. Tlie mines have been idle for two weeks because of a dispute eoncerning the extension oi private contraeting at the open cast irane at Waitawhena. It was stated at Ohura tonight that some of the men

at Waitawhena would return, to work dissatisfied with the decision which is that diseussion on- the points at - varianee will be dropped for the meantime at least. It is understood that operations at the Waitawhena mine will continue as planned before the st.rike began. It is estimated that the loss of coal resulting from the strike is more than 6000 tons.~
