Mr. and Mrs. W. H. Holland, of Tasman Road, have left to take up a newcposition in Whangarei. Mrs. A. E, Wellington, of Mill Road, is at present a patient in the Palmerston North Hospital. Mr. and Mrs. F. Savage, of Tawa Flat, were weekend visitors to the iatter's parents, Mr. and Mrs. D. Grant, Te Horo. Misses Belty Whetren and Elaine Tay.or, of Otaki, left today oh holiday. They will fly to Auckland en route to Whangarei-. Mrs. H. W. Ankefcell, of Rangiuru, has returned to her home after a fairly lengthy stay in the Palmerston North Hospital. . Mr. K. Fogden, of Otaki Railway, foliowing a visit to Sydney extending over six weeks, is expected home on Tuesday. Mr.^and Mrs. W. Watson, of Auckland, are visiting their son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. W. Watson, Kirk Street. Mr. and Mrs. J. E. .Norton, of New Plymouth, have been visiting the Iatter's brother, Mr. T. W. Synnott and Mrs. Synnott, Waerenga Road. Mrs. A. E. Capewell, after a residence of 33 years in Otaki, has left to make her home in HerriesviJLLe, Te Aroha. She was accompanied by her daughier, Miss Joceiyn CapeweJ. Stoker-Mechanic Henry Phillips, formeny of H.M.N.Z.S. Taupo, passed through Otaki on Saturaay morning on his way to Bmff, where he will board the frigate Pukaki en route for Me-bourne. He is the youngest son of Mr. and Mrs. Harry Phillips, Tasman 'Beach. Played Good Football. P.aying for onsiow on Saturday last were three Otaki-ites, L. Hakaraia, J. Hohipuha and T. Gray. Both the forme'r scored tries. Hakaraia played weil at haif, while Hohipuna is reported to have given an outstanding display. Footballer Injured. Playing at Foxton on Saturday, the locai representative footballer, B." Wa.lis, had to be carried off owing to an injury. It was at first uhmight that he haa suffered rather severeiy, but later examination revealed that this was not the case and he took over his normal duties on Monday morning. Access To Racecourse. Recent meetings at 'Trentham and Palmerston North have seen locally owned dogs continuing "their winning way. At Trentham Boston City broke the track and N.Z. Saplings (nine to 12 monuhs) record when winning the opening event over 440 yards in 25 1-5 secs. Owned by Mr. Roy CohiS, this promising sapling wiii now be spehed. Pauiluna, owned by Mr. F. Brunell and racing over hurdies for the first time, secured third place in a field of six. This candidate made amends at Palmerston North and won ihe Maiden Hurdies. Misfortune befed Mr. Allan Brooks' good dog, Master Luna„ at Trentham. When looking ail over a winner in ■the Novice Flat, it was savaged and carried off the course. Master Luna was a successful competitor at Dannevirke on Easier Monday, where he annexed a silver cup for brilliant jumpirig. The mishap will necessitate a spell. A dog who won many supporters when trained on the Otaki racecourse recently, Nigger Boy, has lately been purchased by two local residents.
