WELLINGTON, May 2. Referring today to the open season °or game shooting, the Minister of Internal Affairs said: "It is evident thai the tendency for increasing numbers to av&il themselves of the pleasures of this sport, will continue this year and thai a heavy toll will be taken of game birds open for shooting. Unfortunately tlie birds available are not plentiful and I can see no immediate prospect oi any improvement in thi^. ' ' The Minister said bag limits for waterfowl would be substantially .the same as for the 1948 season. Black swan and pukeko ^had, however, .increased, and in order to prevent the Uh due increase of these birds, bag limits for these had been increased. All available reports indicated that uail were fibundant in all well-knoWn mai) areas and should afford some gbod shooting. ' All indications were that the supply of ammuhition had improved consider ably and he thought that shootefs would experience little trouble in Obtaining supplies.
