Shannon thirds gave a dazzfing display when infiicting a very spuhd defeat qn Otaki thirds at Otaki. The hqme side was withqut a fulhback fqr a gqqd portion of the first spell, being one player short throughout. The sppedy yisiting forwards, however, nevqr let UP und set Ihe home side a hopeless task. Indeedx had it not been for W. Roya1- saving at least a dozen £uiv ther tries the score wou'-d have been much greater than it was (39—0). Otaki handled pporly. The dis-^ play throughout was iriteresting and very qlean, there being qnly twq penalty kicks during the whcle qf the game. Jefferies^ fqr Shannqn, contribute'd 15 points, missing
only two kicks. The wirfger, Eriepa, gave a particularly gqod display, While Peach, Vinsen and Clough never let up. Hermanson opened the scoring wilh a nice try, and Jefferies shortly after added three points from a genaity kick. 'Clough crossed soon after for Jefferies to convert. D. Sherman was the next scorer, Jefferies converting, Clough was over again, with Jefferies on the mark. Next to score was Eriapa, then B. Vinsen, the fulhback, who scored a gem tyy of the game. Harris and Eriapa also crossed again in turn, with Jefferies converting the final three tries. Mr. M. Johnson controlled the game.
