The prosecution charged today tliat Judith Coplon was earrying seeret inl'ormation 011 an atoiuic testing device at the time slie was arrested in Xew York in th,e eompany oi' Valentin Gubitcliev, a Russian engineer. The statement was made by the Federal i Prosecutor (Raymond Whearty) in liis opening address to a jury oi: eight men and i'our woinen who will decide whether Goplon, the 27-year-old former employee of Ihe Justice Department, is guilty oi: espiouage.
