XEW PT.YMOUTH, April 28. ; SufFering from head injuries allegedIv the outcome of an assault on Wednesday night, Alex Taueki, a • Maon. aged 4-2 years, who lives at the Puniho pa aliont foun miles south of Okato, iies seriously ill in the Xew Plvmouth Hospital. Another Maori, a 39-vear-old widower with several children, was arrested tonight a-nd will appear in '•ourt tomorrow charged with assault with intent to commit bodily harm. v The sound of children erving Joudly in Taueki 's house at the Puniho pa, aftraeted the attention of passers-by at about 11 p.m. on Wednesdav and on investigation Taueki was -found uneon-l scious in his bod. Thero wero cuts ; about his eyes and clotted Ijlood and bruises on his head. Constahle F. W. Antill, of Rahotu, was eommunieated with and went to the pa. On his admission to hospital Taueki 's condition was described as serious and late tonight it was reported that his condition was unchanged. Taueki spent Wetlnekday at Xew Plymouth and in the evening a nuniber of inen visited his house where a cpiantity of liquor was consumed.
