Record Prices For Manakau Dairy Herd
Prices for dairy cows be'ieved to be withoui equal in the Horowhenua district - during the pcst 2b years were obtained at a ciearing sale on Wednesday, conducted on behalf of Mr. R. H. Bryant, of Manakau, by the New Zealand Loan . and Merqantile Agency Co., Ltd. An Apiil calving cow topped rea isations at £41 10s, while the average pric'e for the herd of 47 cows was £25 '5s. The herd, which was outstanding both for robust consthution and dairy ability, came for ward in exceTent eondition and reflected high.credit on the vendor. Buyers were present from all over the district and from as far as Napier in the north and Upper Hutt in the south. Bidding was brisk and at no time did the sale lag. The foilowing are the prices realised: — April calving cows, £30, £36, £38, £39 10s to £41 10s; May do„ £21, £22 10s, £25 10s to £28; June do., £15, £17 10s to £21 10s; July do , £21, £23 10s, £25 to £26 10s; August do., £20, £23 10s, £25, £27 to £32; September do., £17, £20. 10s to £23; October do., £20. Heifers, r.w.b., brought from £13 to £14 and weaner heifers £8 15s. Sundries sold at late market rai.es.
