may be seen at "The Chroniele" Office, Otaki. Grown by Mr. R. T. Davies, of Te Rauparaha Street, it is certainly an attractive exhibit and comes from a second year tree. The Western Hospital Districts Joint Sanatorium Committee has struck no rate to finance the Otaki Sanatorium this year and will meet higher operating costs by increasing daily fees payable by member hospital boards on behalf of their patients by 4s a day. The attendance at the Civic Theatre on Tuesday night to witness the third presentation of the local production "Grumpy" was again large, and was on a par with the near capacity houses enjoyed on the former occasions. Again the presentation was excellent, and the War Memorial fund will derive considerable benefit from this latest effort, a very pleasing outcome for those responsible. Card Evenings Popular. Fortnightly card evenings continue to draw good attendances, and two held recently have been so favoured. At one conducted by the Tuis marching team, the prizes were annexed by Mesdames C.
