Otaki Institute's April Meeting
The April meeting of the Otaki Women's Institute took place last week. The attendance wa s f air and a number of apologies were received. Mrs. J. Ross presided. After the usual business had been dealt' with, arrarigements were made -for the birtfiday which will be held on April 26. This year it is to be an evening fun'ction and will take the form of a concert. Following a delicious afternoon tea served by the hostesses, the demonstration took place. Mrs. Wilkes showed members how to cover eiderdowns, this proving most interesting. Mrs. Wilkes was accorded a hearty vote of thanks and presented with a bouquet oi chrysanthemums. Competitions were won as follows: — Best shrub: Mesdames W. Mathie and F. Stephenson. Best flower: Mesdames H. T. Mould and Stephenson. Plum jam: Mesdames Stephenson and Mathie. Handcraft: Mrs. Mould and Miss Gaby. Competitions for next month wih be best flower and shrub, sponge without butter and a handkerchief. The hostesses for May wiT be Mesdames W. B. Smith, T. W. Synnott, I. Stratford, . E. W. Smith, K. E. Stansfield and V. M. Sundgren.
