The Street That Is Not A Street

There is at least one Government l department which would be someI what bewfldered if it learned of I the problems which that short ■ siretch of Bath Street, from Oxford Street to the railway line, presents : to the Levin Borough Council. There tvould be much eyebrow raising if its officials were told of the traffic congestion there, the dangerous railway crossing and the diffi'culty in keeping wayward motorists off the bus parking" zones, because that part of Bath Street just does not exist officially. A local surveyor discovered this in his perusal of the records of that flepar.ment— the Land Transfer Office— and this week wrote to the council requesting that it issue a eertificate under seal that it re-, gards that portion of Bath Street as a public street, "public money havipg been spent on it." The l council will act accordingly.

Band Concert. -For the second time in six months, the Levin Mnicipal Band is presenting a concert in the Regent Theatre and devoting the -proceeds to a charitable cause. On this occasion the funds will be given td the Levin R.S.A. It will take place on Anzac night and the band is renderihg items in keeping with the spirit of Anzac, while talen.ted siipporting artists have offered their serVices. A feature of the occasion will be the fact that the hroadcasting authorities will be present to hear the band, with a view to off ering it radio sessions at a later date.
