- -W' NEW PLYMOUTH, April 21. Pire destroyed the premises of Ohura Valley Stores Ltd. at Matiere this afternoon. The damage to the store, which was fully stocked, is estimated ! to be about £3000. Volunteers laboured for well over an hour to stop the flames from spreading and prevented them from gaining a hold on an adjacent bakery. The alarm was given by pasgengers on a bus
travelling to Ohura. They saw flames and smoke issuing from a window inthe premises as they passed throngh the' township. By that time th® flames had a flrm hold on the interior of tke building. Lack of flre-fighting equipment made it impossible to gave the building which was reduced to ashes within 1-J hours.
