Received Thursday, 11 p«m. NANKING, April 21. Communist troops eetimated to number up to 30,000 have crossed to the south bank of the Yangtze, state agency reports. A spokesmau for the Defenee Ministr,y said the crossing- was made at'Tokang, 80 miles southwest of -Nanking, Another report says the Communists establishecj a bridgehead at "Wuhu -only 50 miles southwest of the eapital, News of the crossing followed an announeement that" the Communists had rejected the Nationalists' eounter proposals for peace. It is reported that Li Tsungjen 's Nationalist Government has decided to flee Nanking by 'air today. A Government' spokesman said Li would establish a new seat of Government in Canton within a week.
