Tracy, considered at a special meeting of the management committee of the New Zeaiand Amateur Athletic Association tonight. The report dealt largely with technieai matters and- was essentially of an internal nature. After a discussion on the report it was a'dopted subject to various amendments and deletions. It was also decided that, the management and control of the track and field section of the Games having been vested in the N.Z.A.A.A., the Auckland centre of the association be invited to cooperate in making all ^reliminary arrangements at Auckland and to assist the association in condueting the meeting. Photo Pinishes. The question of photo finishes for the athletic events was discussed briefly. ■ , Mr. Tracy said that a type of photc finish had been used in secondary scliool sports in Auckland. Mr. J. M. Holley considered that this type was not accurate. The type used on racecourses was the only suitable oue, said Mr. E. G. Leeder. He understood that the agents or principals owning the patent, were willing to cooperate with the Games Association. It was decided that the New Zeaiand senior and women 's athletic ehampionships would be lield in Wellington on Saturdav, December 31, and Monday, January 2, 1950. A meeting of the management committee would be held in Wellington on January 4 at noon, tc receive xrom the seleclors a report oi the New Zeaiand athletic team for the Games. Austad, said that annouucing was for a purpose and that was not to tell the public what they could already see and what was largely an irritating noise. The association was not acting properly in allowing this type of announcing to be carried on at meetings in New Zeaiand, as was being done at presenfr, said Mr. Tracy. Mr. D. Woodfield, iwho was manager
of the New Zeaiand team to the reeent Olympic Games, said that there was nc progress announcing at the Games. Mr. Leeder agreed that there should be no announcing during the running events but there should be.some systen: of advising the public of the progress of individuals in the field events.
