Successful Sports Meeting At Manakau
Centre of attraction throughout the southern end of the distric,(: on, Monday was the fifth annual sports - meeting of the Manakau Sports Club, he'd on Mr. L. Jensen's grounds. This functicn drew a sp'endid at*"endance, with entries large in practically all events, and a very enjoyable day's sport was Witnessed. The club's very energetic secretary, Mr. Ivan Drake, made visitors really welcome, being assisted in his many arduous tasks by Messrs R. Jensen and H. Mungavin, and the members of a hard working committee. . As a wind up to the day's activities a dance was held in the Manakau Ha1! at night, and a very large crowd attended and spent a most joyable time. Again an energetic cdmmittee had arrangements under splendid control. and this function was a fitting finale to the successfql annual sports. Novelty dances wfere won by Miss P. Drake - ?nd partner, Miss F. Tabor and Mr. Tom George and Miss P. Ellison and partner. Mr. F. Corbett carried out the duties of M.C. in a very 'able. and efflcient manner.
