First Shots Fired In Municipal By-election Campaign
V Five of the nine aspirants for the two vacant seats on the, Levin Borough Council gave thefr views on the administration problems of the borough in public ' addresses in Levin last night. • ' Two meetings were called, one by Mr. A. W. Parton m the Oddfellows5 Hall, presided over by Mr. J, B[arvey, and the other, which wa's an open meeting for . all candidates, was presided over by the Mayor; Mr. H. B. Burdekin. Those speaking at the latter meeting were Messrs. R. -S. Antcliff, N. Thornley, L, V. Trass and E. Tomlinson. .. The attendances at bqth meetings were disappointing, there being about 50 at the open meeting and 30 at Mr. Parton's. - Tonight Messrs, W. Seddhn and F. Groot will speak in the Weraroa Hall.
