Gay Stroller, always well plaeed, was in front with Indian Song as they [ straightened up for the run home and then stuck on solidly to beat Hostess by the best part of a length. There was a terrilic battle for third place and Avenger got it a liead in front of Loyal Bian, Emerge and Indian Song which were almost in line. 4 Travel King set the pace for six furlongs and the field was in close order. The consistent Faultina was favourite for the concluding race. She won after a tussle with Lady Oratory ana she gave the New Plymouth trainer, L. Dulieu, his third win for the day and a decisive margin in the trainers' points competition. Square Dink, Lady Oratory, Faultina, Deseado, Helenette, New Deer and Bramerton was the order into the straight and Faultina, Lady Oratory and Deseado fought the finish. The margins were a neck and a head. Eireann, which lost ground early, finished brilliantly for fourth ahead of Alright, The Stormovik and New Deer.
