BOGOTA, April 17. Columbian soldiers clashed with about 200 armed civilians in a bloody battle at thfe village of Chita a fe'w miles northeast of Bogota today. Ho'uses and plantations were burned to the grouiid by the raiders before soldiers intervened, bui the damage is not yet known., The Chita ineident is only ohe* of a number of clashes that flared up throughout the country today as a nine- ' day political truce proclaimed by PreSident Perez, ehded. The truce had been proclaimed in an eft'ort to prevent demonstrations on or near the first anniversary of the assassination of tfie Left-wing Liberal leader, Jorge Gaitan. It was Gaitan 's killing that touched oft' a wave of rioting throughout the eountry during the Pan-American Conference last year.
