Mr. W. S. Salmons/ superinterident of the Levin Fire Brigade, was a delegate to* the Hnited Distriet Fire Brigades' conferepqce and demoristratiori at Lower Hutt during Easter. He was elected a vicepresident. The death occtirred diiririg the weekend at Takapuna of Mr. J. A. .Srfrith, formerly of t Lq.vin, who was widely known throughbiit .the distriet as eriginedr to thfe HorOwhe-. nua Electric Power Board. Mr. Sriiith came to Levin in 1923 as assistant engineer, di which tiirie the board had just been set up. In Jrily, 1925, the engineer, Mr. Ti R. Overton, lfeft the> boafd's femploy arid Mr. Sriiith wds appbirited brigineer, holding the position until his retirfeirierit iri DbfeAriibeF, 1^44, at the age of 65 years. He is survived by his wife arid one daughter, .Miss Rae Sriiith.-
