Croquet Club Winds Up Successful Season
The officiaL.closing' of the "Levin Croquet Club took place last Wednesday, when honorary members were also present. During the afternoon the frophies won during the year were presented, the Sherwood Cup, won by Levin, being presented by Mrs. Purvis. The scores for the eup were: Levin 189, Otaki 185, Foxton 174, Shannon 158> and Manakau 72. Mrs. 'W. Lett presented the Lett Brooches to the winners, Mesdames T. Fraser and A. Mudgway. The president then presented the remainder of the trophies as follows: — Kirk Cup: 'Mrs. Boulton. Gold Ladder Stars: Mrs. T. Fraser. Brown Buttonsr Mesdames W. Dalzell (A) and J. Holdaway (B.) . Competitions: Mesdames H. Wenham and H. Boulton (A). and J. Holdaway (B) . Worsfold badges: Mesdames E. Rne and W. Bull. ■Mrs. Pine, a very valuable member of the club, who is leaving, the district, was made the recipient of a gift of china. She will be greatly missed for besides being one of the top players, she- has been seeretary of the club and its delegate to the Palmerston North* Centre. Afternoon tea was * served and competitions held, the results of which were:— Bkittles: Mrs. Lake. Ladder: Mrs. Taplin. Golf Croquet: Mrs. Staples.
