» Received Tuesday, 7 p.m. LONDON, April 12. The President of the Board of Trade, Mr. Harold Wilson, stated today thai Britain had achieved a new reeord m exports for March. They were provisionally put at £159,900,000 which was £700,000 above the previous reeord in .Tanuarv and were likel.v to be 1()2 per cent or 163 per eent of the 1938 volume. March, however, was a long working month and the daily rate of exports was three per cent less than January but one per cent above February. Mr. Wilson added that imports also were the highest ever in March, Mr. Wilson said that Britain 's exports to North America amounted to only £1 per head of population. He added that the first task facing British exporters was to maintain and, if possible, increase the tolal volume.
