WELLINGTON, April 11. "Warnings which have appeared from time to time in the press about difficulties of obtaining sea passages from the United Kingdom to New Zealand, apply as mueh now as they have done over the past few years," said the Prime Minister,- Mr. Fraser, today. He was commenting on the number of people who continue to.. approach the High Oommissioner in- London, Mr. | JordaU)- sbeking. his assistance in ob- [ taining- sea passages to New Zealand. .. ' ' The only eourse open to the High •Oommissioner, ' ' continued Mr. Fraser. ;"is to refer these people to the ship;pi'ng comiianies which have established a committee to ensure that each pas sage is allocated according to its merits. Although the shrpping coippanies have made cohsiderable progress in replacing wartime losses and in the reeonversion of troop transports, there is stiil an acute shortage of passenger accommodation. ' ' The Prime Minister warned intending travellers from New Zealand to be prepared for a lengthy stay in the United- Kingdom. "I feel I nrast stress, " said Mr. Fraser, "that willing and sympathetic as he is, there is riothing Mr. Jordan can do and it is the traveller's own responsibility to make adequate preparation before such a journey is undertaken.
