British Leadership In Jet Aircraft Admitted

Britain 's leadeship in the development of jet aireraft was acknowledged i during a House Appropriations Committee hearing on next 3rear 's defence Budget. Testimony released today reported that Lieutenant-General Howard Craig, Peputy Air Force Chief of-Staff, as stating: . "W.e have a fulj and free exchange of information between the British and ourselves bul they are about two years ahead of u.s in tlie developmpnt of .jet aireraft. However, we - are rapidly catching up. I think that within a short time we wilj be on a paritv with the British. ' ' Lieutenant - General Craig, when asked about Russian jet aireraft development, replied: • ''They are pro bably in the same position as we aip in.'#'
