Statute Outiines Tenns Of Interim Treaty

Received Monday, 10.20 a.m. LONDON, April 10. The Occupations Statute was handed to the Germans today by representatives of Britain, France and the United States. The Foreign Ministers of these nations approyed the Statute in Washington ori Frir day. It outiines the terms of the interim peace treaty between the three Western Powers and Germany. The document1 was presented to Dr. Konrad Adenauer, president of the Parliamentary Council, at Boun, which is drawing uo the con.stitution for the German Republic. The British United Press correspondent says that the Western Allies will have the right to resume full authority over the future West German Government whenever they deem it necessary. The Statute states that Britain, the United States and France intend that the German people shall enjoy self -government to the maximum possible degree consistent with the occupation. The Associated Press correspondent says that the handing over of the Statute was the latest in a series of swift-moving events on ihe Allied side in Germany. Action on the German side has been slower. The Germans have not yet agreed on their basic law or constitution. Dr. Adenauer estimated it would ^ °kp at least three months to f-orm u government.
