Under the new plan for Western Germany being worked out in Washington by the Britisli, Frencli and United j^afek, Foreign) Ministers, Ailied. control in Western' Germany will be given an entirely new form as soon as the new West German Government is set up, says the .JDaily Herald's diplomatic ,'correspondent. The maih idea is that the Ailies will no longer take any aetion or dhecf part in domestic- administration or leg-
islati'on. The German Centrai and Provineial Gbveruments will run things themselves, the eorrespondents says, but the Allies will retain the right to veto any laws or orders to which they object. There will be no relaxatiou of Ailied control in inatters alfectmg security and the Military fSecurity Board will have powers to prevent any attempt at reorganising any form of German army or at rearmmg. Tlie Coa; and Steel Boards will still keep control over the two key industnes in the Kuhr and the International Kuhr Authority will be set up as planned. ererniany's foreign trade will aJso, for ihe time' being, remain undei direct control as will her foreign reiations. The new plan, uie corre.spondeiu adds,« ean come into operation only when the new constitution lias been formed and is working but it is hoped that the changes now decided will help to induce the German constituent body now sitting at Bonnuo, to agrce rapidly on a constitution acceptable to the three Powers.
