A large crowd staged a patriotic demonstration, carrving in triumpii three Italian generals who, for tlie flrst time since the end of the war, eutered Trieste as official guests of the Allied authorities, says The Times' Trieste correspondent. The generals were showered with flowers and debecked with Italian ilags. The people along the waterfront sang the Italian national anthem.
