The Otaki Lawn Tennis Ciub will close the season on Saturday, when trophies won, inciuding the Ryder Cups, wili be presented. Lucky Ticket Held Locally. It is reported that a £50 prize in an overseas lottery has been. wjn by an Otaki woman. This is apparently a case of perseverance rewarded, ast he lady is reported as having continued to buy tickets regu^arly while her husband ceased to have any interest. Other smalier prizes in the same lottery have been won locally also. Championship Trophy. Arousing much comment is the trophy annexed by the local rink yrtiich won the Champion of Champions bowling fours at Wellingon recently. The trophy is being displayed at Mr. F. Rule's premises at Otaki Railway. The winning rink . was A. D. Webster, T. Webster, A. C. Mclntyre and O. H. Symons, of the Otaki Railway club. Yital Statistics. Twelve European births were registere'd in Otaki during the monlh of March; and four marriage notices were issued. There were no deaths. For the quarter January to March a total of 36 European and six Maori births were notified to the registrar, Mr. C. G. Anderson, while for the same period three European and one Maori deaths were advised, and a total of eight marriage notices issued. [More Greyhound Successes. ! Otaki-owned greyhounds continiie to figure prominently at .nearby meetings, and at Foxton on I Saturday ' l'ast Mr. W. Hodge's iStalin's Pride secured a first and a 'second placing. Disdain, having its first start for a new owner, r/u\ R. Booth, - secured a firbt. Master Luna, owned by Mr. A. Broeks, ran a second, while Palluna, owned by Mr. F. Brunell, ran third. Fixtures include meetings at Palmerston North on Apri. 9, Foxton on April • 16 and Dannevirke on April 18. The ! Otaki club reports good progress, ,and a dance is to be held on May 13, while the club plans to hold a meeting at Otaki on June 19.
