With winter approaching fast, indoor bowling is again going in full swing. The Levin club began . its activities on Tuesday, March ,29, , when the official opening ceremonywas conducted by the Mayor, Mr..,.. H. B. Burdekin. • The coming season promises to be a successfui one.' There ha? been a further increase in membership, as more and more out- . door bowlers are taking up the I sport. Keen interest has been dis1 played by members in the past two seasons — the club was inaugurated in July, 1947— and many people* have become interested in the 'ciub's activities each year. j As yet the club has not taken Ipart in open competitions, being I content to play friendly matches . 'against Vogelmornj - Wellington ' Sports Centre and Raumati and . Paraparaumu Beaches. This year it is hoped that with the formation last year of the Moutoa Club, and the possibility of further clubs, . being launched at Koputaroa and Ohau, inter-club competitions will be organised. ' »» ;| With regard to the local ciub's i competitions, it has been decided to conduct them on the same basis ^ as that in force at the Wellington ' clubs. This is arranged so that a • certain number of club nights are set aside and fours, pairs and . singles matches are played. A . member must qualify with a certain percentage of points to reach ■ the quarter-finals, etc., in each section. _
