Personal Mr. and Mrs.,N. R. Woodmass, of Moutoa, are at present spending a holiday in the Rotorua district. Mr. and Mrs. E..-Perry, of PlimmerTerrace, expect to leave shortly on a holi'day visit to relatives in the United States of America. Mr. and Mrs. E. A. Collins, of Ballance Street, have returned home after spending a motoring holi'day in the north. Mr. and Mrs. H. E. Williams, Snr., of Otaru Road, returned home on Monday from a holiday in the Hawke's Bay district. ? Mr. J. Griibben, formerly of the Shannon Post Office staff, has been transferred to a similar position at Collingwood. Mr. Gribbon left Shannon last week. - The friends of Mr. E. J. Gunning, of Stout Street, will be pleased to learn that he is up again after spending some weeks as an inmate of the Palmerston North Hospital. A number of Shannon guests were present at the wedding of Miss M. Clough, held at Palmerston North last Saturday afternoon. Misses J. Clough and J. Doyle were bridesmaids. Mr. Lars Beck left yesterday morning for Auckland on the first stage of his holiday trip to Denmark. Mr. Beck leaves today by air for Australia. He expects to return to New Zealand towards the end of this year. Mrs. V. McLaggan, of Melibourne, accompanied by her father-in-law, Mr. A. McLaggan, has been the guest of Mr. and Mrs. M. Parr, Plimmer Terrace. Mr. McLaggan recently returned home after a six weeks' holiday in Australia. Plunket Meeting. An announcement , in this issue draws attention to the annual gen.eral meeting of the Shannon subbranch of the Plunket Society. The meeting is to be held in the Plunket Rooms at 2.30 p.m.. .next. Levin,,, next Tuesday. Miss Crooke has recently returned from the. World Red Cross conference, held in Stockholm, and she ' is an outstanding speaker. Beck was the guest of honour at a farewell evening, held in the Moutoa Hall last Saturday, prior to -his departure on a holiday to Denmark. Mr. Beck is a highly t esteemed Shannon buisnessman, I who has lived for many years in I the town.. His many friends joini ed in wishing him bon voyage and a safe return to this country.
