Autumn Ushered In With Snow On Ranges

A total rainfall of 246 points was recorded by Mr. F. H. Critchley, oi Tasman Beach, with rain falling on 10 days, compared with 161 points and eight rainy days during March last year. The highest rainfall was on the 7th of the month, when 8 4 points fell. Snow fell twice on the ranges. apparently precipitating an early autumn, which starls officially on the 21st. The snowfall was accompanied by brief but heavy hailstorms, with electrical storms oi short duration on two occasions. Actually Otaki was fortimate in missing a frost, many nearby towns not faring so well.
