Jaycees Review Progress In Helen Lowry Hall
Efforts to date in the raising of £300 to assist the Helen Lowry Hafl fund for women university students was reviewed at the fortnightly meeting of the Board of the Levin Junior Chamber of Commerce last night. The president, Mr. R. H. Long, referred to the meeting held last week of interested bodies and stated that even though no appeal had yet been made to the general Jaycee membership, already £10 ha'd been contributed from thfs source. He was of the opinion that if this amount could be raised prior to e.ven soliciting contributions, theh the success of the appeal was as..sured. It was theh decided to again circularise the interested parties and call a further meeting to get the appeal under way. The secretary intimated that the next tea meeting ha'd been set down for Monday, April 11, and that a report would be given of last year's convention held at Dunedin. The formation of the various groups of the chamber would also be undertaken at this meeting.
