Sharp Increase In Permits For New Houses
During the year ended March 31 lasst the Levin Borough Council is,sued 99 permits for new dwellings. their aggregate value being £167,931. This is a sharj> increase pn |he previous year, when permits npmbered 72 and their value was ■ Ll'17, 124. permits for alterations and additipns totalled 117 and the value oi them was £8619. For the year ended March 31, 1948, there were onlj 66 permits of a value of £4636. Six new dwellings had beer started during t'he month of Marcl • and six completed, leaving the number under cpnstructjpn at 9( ' exelusive of State- hbuses, said the building inspector, Mr. H. T. Tilyard, in his report to a meeting o: the council last night.
