FEILDING LIVE STOCK SALE

1 Values Remain Relatively Steady Values remained relatively steady in all departments at yesterday's "live ' stock sale in Feilding. 1STot all the fat slieep on offer. were wanted without disturbing the'price level to any rnarked extent and the demand for store lambs l was not such as to absorb all on olfei but prices' here w'ere well maintained although towards the end the tone weakened somewhat: Little interetft was taken on the yarding of station cattle and most of the business was done privately with grown bullocks in good order realising up to £18. Pat Sheep The yarding of fat sheep whicli totalled approximately 500 head was in excess of the immediate demand while the overall quality was inelined to be lighter and several pens were passed in. Approaching the end of the season^he sheep were not all carrying the condition to inspire very active competition and while wethers were up on last week's best .price the values did uot reach those of the sale of March 18. The realisations were: Dowu cross 2-ths: 4 at 33s ld; 2 at 42s lOd; wethers: 14 at 43s lOd; 34 at 45s -4d; 20 at 43s 4d; 47 at 42s 4d; 3 at 43s 7d; 29 at 46s ld; 2 at 45s 10s; 7 at 46s lOd; lambs: 34 at 31s 4d; 14 at 29s 4d; 17 at 35s 7d; 6 at 31s. lOd; 11 at 28s 4d; 3 at 37s 4d; 20 at 30s ld; ewes: 13. at 29s ld; 7 at 29s 10s;^35 at 26s lOd; 2'5 at 26s 4d; 24 at 30s 4d; 12- at 21s ld; 5 at 29s 7d. Store Lambs Just over 2000 store lambs of mostly medium quality came forward to experience a fluctuating. demand with buyers tending to be a little more conservative. The best of the white face wether lambs offered were traded at prices a shade dearer than last week but generally the tone appeared to be easier as towards the end some quite good lambs from Wellington, well grown and with good fleeces, went rather cheaply. Ewe lambs sold accord-. ing to quality and the 2-th wethers on offer were mostly medium types. The saies made under the hammer were:. White faced wether lambs: 232 at 30s ld and 30s; 150 at 26s ld; 180 at 32s 6d; 130 at 29s 4d; 37 at 17s 6d; 78 at 21s ld; 203 at 30s ld; 90 at 27s 8d; ewe lambs: 111 at 35s; 73 at 34s_'5d; 50 at '25s 10d;'Down cross lambs: 64 at 32s 3d; 59 at 24s 3d; 39 at 25s 7d; 103 at 27s; 2-th wethers: 126 at 40s; 52 at 29s 2d; 46 at 38s 7d. The biddiug on several pens failqd to satisfy the reBerves and the sheep were passed in. Mated Breeding Ewes A seleetion of about 1000 mated breeding ewes., came forward and sold on a'lfrm market?/ practically all being Y 6^'diiy ( disp Osed ' ' 6f " at the following realisations: 2-ths: 108 at 46s 3d; 41 at 44s 3(1; 5-yr: 191 at 32s 9d; 80 at 28s; 74- ht 29s 3d; 79 -at 32s; 9.6 -.at .34s 9d; .749 >t 30s; other saies: 82 m.a. at 4Ss 145 4 and 5-yr at 40s. Very little business was done under the hammer and the majority- of the saies reeorded were done privately. Big cattle with age were trad'ed to £18 bpt these appealed as being -typbs 'ready for early spring.
